Exhibition "Sumimasen - Japan through the eyes of an Estonian photographer"

Make sure to stop by Juhan Kuus Documentary Photo Centre at the Telliskivi Creative City in Tallinn before the end of March. An awesome Japanese-themed photo exhibition "Sumimasen - Japan through the eyes of an Estonian photographer" was opened there in the middle of December. You can also find some of my photos at the exhibition.

“It is fascinating how in Japanese culture strong contrasts, which sometimes appear contradictory to the foreign eye, coexist in a harmonious symbiosis. The chaos of the metropolis with meditative Zen Buddhism; black suits and kimonos with Harajuku costumed youth and punk scene; neon-lit skyscrapers with historic temples; a strong self-denying work culture together with after-work entertainment. The streets of Tokyo have it all in abundance.”

Group exhibition 'Our own' at Tammsaare Park, Tallinn

Three of my photos are being exhibited at Tammsaare Park, Tallinn as part of a group exhibition ‘Our own’.

‘Our own’ is a series of portraits introducing Estonian people and showing, even in its limited capacity, the diversity of the population of our small country and nation. We should not have an 'us vs them' or 'own and foreign' mentality. We are such a small nation that it would be easier and better for all of us to stand together. Even if we are slightly different.
